What’s a Mojito?

A mojito (pronounced mo-HEE-toe), one of Cuba’s oldest cocktails, comes from the African word mojo, which means to place a little spell.

One rum distiller traces the drink’s roots to 1586, when Francis Drake and his pirates tried to sack Havana for its gold. While the invasion was unsuccessful, Drake’s associate, Richard Drake, was said to have invented a mojito-like cocktail known as El Draque made with aguardiente (a crude forerunner of rum), sugar, lime and mint. Early on, it was consumed for medicinal purposes. Around the mid-1800s, the recipe was altered and gained in popularity.  In 1940, Cuban playwright and poet Federico Villoch proclaimed: “When aquardiente was replaced with rum, the Draque was to be called a Mojito.”‘

Other accounts suggest that slaves working in Cuban sugar cane fields in the late 19th century invented the mojito.

Ernest Hemingway fancied them at La Bodeguita del Medio in Havana as well as in Key West (his favorite drink was the daiquiri, though). James Bond (aka Pierce Brosnan) drank one in a famous scene with Halle Berry in Die Another Day and Sonny Crockett (aka Colin Ferrell) declared himself “a fiend for mojitos” in the Miami Vice movie.

  1. Drac Smith^This one is deeper than most. Worked great when I had hair&#44 but when I shaved my head it goes way down on my head. Looks fairly cool&#44 though a lot more white in it than the picture shows. Survived many washes with no issue. I’ve had this one up to 90 mph and not lost it despite not having elastic. One of the few without elastic I could wear at that speed. Tougher and thicker than most at this price range.~4|carol mckinnon^My husband works in a hot factory that is even hotter in the summer. He been wearing duraggs for a while. I never bought one with a built in sweat band before now. He loves it. It keeps the sweat from going into his eyes. The material of this also keeps him cool as it is very lite weight and breathable. I will admit he does wet it down then puts on to cool himself off during breaks. But hey if that helps awesome. It fit him nicely and the design pattern is really cool. But the most impressive thing again is that sweatband built into.~5|Roberta B^The material on this dew rag is very durable but soft enough to wear and its of good quality material. I like that its not flimsy and it has a sweat band in the front lining to keep sweat from your eyes. Its also very reasonably priced. I’ll be ordering more because good dew rags are very hard to find in stores.~5|Art24^This is a very good product. The material is durable. It stays on well. The strings on the back could be a bit longer because it is not so easy to tie.I have washed this now about 60 times. It just gets wrinkled&#44 it does not shrink&#44 it does not rip. It is quite good.~4|Paul^It doesn’t fit my head right. Every biker&#44 welder&#44 or fan knows if it doesn’t fit snug to the top of your head&#44 it just looks stupid. No matter how cool the design. Normally&#44 you should be able to pull down the back flap&#44 and adjust this&#44 but not the case. I’m a 7 1/4 ball cap size I think&#44 which I believe is fairly average so&#44 I’m assuming it’s not my head shape or size that’s the problem. It may fit you fine though! For me&#44 major let down.~3|J. F. B.^I bought this for my husband and he wasn’t thrilled with it. The material is stiff&#44 as if somewhat added a ton of starch to it. It was somewhat on the large size and he doesn’t have a small head either. I washed this with a lot of fabric softener hoping it would soften up but it didn’t happen. I should have returned it but I guess it will sit in his dresser drawer for the moment.~4|jc^I started wearing it and often forget it is there. Very durable&#44 many machine washes and little or no fading. I didn’t realize how comfy this was until I put one of my old&#44 un-sweat banded ones on and felt like I was wearing an SOS pad. I am ordering more of these&#44 I want spares for the summer while they are in the wash.~5|Lera^I read the reviews before I bought this and decided to take the risk. I use these skullies under my motorcycle helmet to protect my hair. The one I received looks nice: the printing is bright and well done. The fabric is heavier-weight compared to the unlined cotton models sold by the same company. The panels all appear to be symmetrical and sewn properly. This model has a nice&#44 thick terry-cloth lined headband with sewn edges. The cap is snug– neither loose nor tight. It feels fitted rather than one-size-fits-all. It is exactly right for me&#44 an average-sized female with curly hair&#44 but seems like it would be a bit small on an large man’s head. I wear a Medium helmet size&#44 if that helps. The other model from the same company that I bought is all cotton with no terry-cloth headband. It’s made of lighter weight cotton and is much roomier. I’d recommend that one for a bigger head.~4|Peter Suslock^I have a few Halo Skull Caps and am pleased with the quality – but they’re expensive. Please note the sewing of this cap leaves a bit to be desired&#44 especially on the tails. However in relation to the price these are a great value. As a person who is incredibly heat intolerant and sweats like a monsoon during the dog days of summer these particular caps make sense on multiple levels.* 100% Cotton breathes and allows for natural evaporation for cooling off* The sewn in headband is great – I prefer this over the rubber diverter in Halo caps – both work equally well at keeping perspiration out of your eyesThis skull cap is much like the Halo Protex Skull cap because it’s larger and has ties which I like. Those caps run very&#44 very tight. These have a looser fit and can easily be adjusted. I’m a head shaver and like that I can make the cap as tight or loose as I like which is something most skull caps don’t allow.Pure cotton is light and airy so you get used to the fit that serves you best in no time. Plus unlike the rubber sweat diverters the built in terry sweat band is more comfortable and doesn’t leave a red mark on your forehead which takes a bit of time to disappear.Perfect for under a helmet&#44 a bike ride&#44 or just hanging out on a hot day these really do perform as promised. Again&#44 the finishing and stitch quality aren’t anything to write home about put in relation to price these are an excellent buy. Remember&#44 cotton shrinks. Only hand wash or machine wash on cool settings and never use the dryer&#44 always air dry.~5|JL^The tail in the back could be a little longer other than that works well~5|

  2. angela geehern^sent back~4|Ira Sauer^it was a pleasure&#44 to make this deal~5|DCRC^Great hats for anyone who needs sun protection. I have many in tropical climates.~5|Joy McCracken^Husband needed it~5|Madeline Collins^I buy a new one every year for my husband. He wears this all the time in all sorts of weather so he needs a decent looking cap. He is extremely pleased with this one!~5|

  3. C. Miguez^I ordered several raglan shirts in sizes from 18-24 mo (American apparel) to XS Shaka & Soffe). This one (Soffe) is the largest: 1″ longer & wider overall&#44 BUT it’s head/neck hole is really small! The American apparal 18-24 mo & Shaka XS raglans have a head/neck hole of 4.5″. The Soffe XS’s is only 3″. It looks really strange.~3|Eric^I got this in an X-small after debating what size my son would wear&#44 and it fit perfect! He currently wears a size 6 so I think it was comparable to that size. It washed well and the quality was much better then I expected for such an inexpensive shirt.~5|Nanner^Very small and the white portion of the shirt is much thinner than I would have hoped. We were not able to use this shirt.~4|Amazon Customer^I ordered an xs. It was a size 6/7. For whatever reason I was expecting it to be more of a size 4/5~3|Ashley^Shirt fit ok but just seemed kind of thin.~3|Amazon Customer^This shirt will serve the purpose but the neck hole is SO small!! I purchased this for my 5 y/o and he is very little however&#44 it was a struggle to get his head through the hole. It seemed like a neck size of a baby!~3|R. M. K. D.^Very disappointed. Stiff&#44 cheap feeling fabric and the neck is so small it can’t even fit over a small child’s head. Never again. I would have put 0 stars but it made me put at least 1.~3|Sherri Yacuk^The shirt was nice&#44 but the head hole opening was super small-had to stretch it to get my daughter’s head through and she has a very average sixe head.~3|Jessica C.^So the shirt itself was a little large HOWEVER the neck hole was ridiculously small! It would not even fit around a dolls head. Luckily I had ordered a couple more shirts but their neck holes were rather “tight” as well.~4|Judith Rata^This shirt was awkward. Big all over except the collar was so small! My son could not get his head in. I had to snip along both sides!~3|

  4. Amy^LOVE. I am a female 5’6 165 38DD and ordered an XL after reading reviews.Normally&#44 I would order L maybe M on a good day&#44 but XL fits great.I really like the material. It’s very soft and looks just like the picture. I’ve been wearing it to bed. You don’t get any stiffness with the graphics or anything like that.I love the X-Files. I love watching the X-Files in this shirt.~5|Jamie Lyn^I bought one size up after reading all of the other reviews. Glad I did! I purchased the XXL and it fits exactly like an XL. This t-shirt is made of thin fabric not thick&#44 so keep that in mind. My boyfriend is not crazy about t-shirts with this thin of fabric but still wears the heck out of it because he really enjoys the X-files.~5|Emmanuel^I love the X files and have been looking for this shirt. The product is what is pictured in the description. However I did notice that the shirt runs about a size too small. I usually wear mediums. With this t shirt&#44 it fits very snug. Like a slim fit t shirt. The logo and print quality are good after a few washes the print still looks as good as when I bought it. If you are thinking about buying it consider buying a size larger!~3|Jennimo^Fit is great and the shirt is nicely constructed! Quickly became one of my son’s favorite shirts because he loves the show and the softness of the shirt!~5|Glenda Risinger-Champagne^I really like this shirt. One of the others I ordered was not cotton like I thought&#44 and a third was too small…but this one I love.~5|Zeus^Fits way too tight and I’m average build slightly more on the muscular side all of my shirts are medium and fit perfectly. They should advertise this shirt as skinny fit/ little brothers shirt. Two stars because I just couldn’t wear it. What a bummer it would of looked awsome on me too .~4|Linda R. Belair^The shirt arrived on time and looked like the picture. The color gray is as represented. The material is very light weight. I am surprised at the fit however. I am a woman who normally wears a womans Medium/Large shirt. I bought a large and it is a good thing I did. It is kind of tight around the midriff section. Other than that I am happy with my purchase.~4|Mushimu^Based off other reviews I sized up. It is still tight across the stomach section. But very soft.~4|Gregory^Happy with fruit and fast shipping.~5|Sierra^Great quality shirt and perfect fit. No complaints.~5|
